Following the recent topic of nutrition, IMA introduces to Parents the Suggested Feeding Guidelines from the American Dietetic Association for children from 12 months to 6 years old. With this guide, Parents will easily choose foods to be able to guide the children’s healthy eating habits as well as to ensure adequate nutrients.
The guideline divides foods into 6 different groups to ensure a full range of nutrients with specific volumes suitable for each age, including:
Meat/Protein Foods: meats, eggs, peanut butter, and legumes/beans.
Milk/Dairy Products: fresh milk, yogurt, cheese,…
Fat/Oil: Parents can add oils: vegetable oil, cooking oil, olive oil,… into children’s diet.
Fruits and Vegetables: in specific quantities, Parents can incorporate vegetables into the main meal as snacks or desserts.
Cereals/Starches: present in breads: black bread, wholemeal bread,… and in grains, rice, pasta, noodles,…
Other foods: Parents can incorporate in your child’s meals such as jam, candy, cake,… But limited to a permissible level.
