Building the habit of concentration is so important for children because this will assist them in the learning path and also their future.
However, every child has a different attention span. On average, children from 2 to 6 years old have a quite short attention span which lasts for around 4 to 18 minutes. This small number can be affected by other factors such as children’s emotions, attitude to the tasks, nearby distractions, etc.
Therefore, to cultivate a child’s habit of attention, parents can apply the following methods:
- Create a new and creative way to do boring tasks
- Let the child play with fidgets or puzzles
- Remove nearby distractions
- Let the child do one task only, do not force them to multitask
- Divide the task into smaller ones
- Have a short break for the difficult task
- Increase physical activities
- Build a proper sleeping habit for children
